The Begining
In 1987, four partners and a venture capital firm identified a need in the market for the development of high-quality IT systems in the Spanish industrial sector. As a result, GTD was founded: a company which improves the productivity, competitiveness and internationalization of Spanish industry, especially in the automotive sector.

Entry into the Space Industry
We developed the Ariane 5 control centre at the European Space Centre in French Guiana. In 1991, our first GTD team established a permanent base in Kourou, making us to this day the only Spanish-based company with offices there.

Global Recognition
General Motors Corporation honored GTD with the “Best Supplier in the World” award, celebrating our commitment to exceptional quality, innovation, and service on a global scale.

Entry into the Science Sector
GTD quickly cemented its leadership in scientific IT by becoming the first Spanish IT company to achieve ISO 9001 certification, underscoring our unwavering commitment to quality management and excellence.
That same year, we delivered and implemented the Jupiter II Control Center, showcasing our innovation in mission-critical scientific infrastructure.

Entry into the Defence Industry
GTD took a major step into the defence industry by securing its first contract with the Spanish Ministry of Defence, marking the beginning of our enduring commitment to delivering advanced defence solutions.

Entry into the On-Board Market
GTD entered the on-board market by designing mission-critical software for the Ariane 5, Vega, ATV, and other space vehicles, showcasing our expertise in embedded systems development.

Vega On-Board Software Contract
GTD expanded the on-board and launchers market by signing its first Vega OBSW contract with EADS-ST showcasing our expertise in embedded systems.

Arianespace Partnership
GTD inked its first contract with Arianespace to develop and deploy advanced ground control and mission planning software for the Ariane launch fleet, marking our emergence as a key contributor to European space operations.
Soyuz Contract
GTD secured its first Soyuz contract with Arianespace, delivering and integrating mission-critical software for the Soyuz launch campaigns operated from Kourou—solidifying our expanding footprint in global launch operations.

First Satellite On-Board Software Contract
GTD secured its first satellite on-board software contract by developing and delivering the mission-critical software for SEOSAT, Spain’s pioneering Earth observation satellite, marking our entry into spaceborne systems engineering.

Entry into the Maritime & Ports Sector
GTD acquired a 49% stake in Portel Servicios Telemáticos, S.A., a leader in IT solutions for transport, logistics, and distribution within the maritime and port industry, marking our strategic move into maritime technology.
Launch of European Expansion
GTD kicked off its international growth by establishing subsidiaries in Germany and France, extending our presence and delivering tailored software services across Europe.

GTD Enters the ITER Project
Realisation of instrumentation, control and diagnostic systems for the experimental nuclear fusion reactor.

Main Contractor for Ariane 6 Control Benches
GTD becomes the prime contractor for the creation of the Ariane 6 launcher's Family of Control Banks. There are 9 control benches spread across Europe and are crucial for the manufacturing, integration and launch of the Ariane 6 launcher.
