In the first line: Ms Gonzalez (CDTI) and Escudero (GTD), Mr Talbot (CNES) and Remirez (NAJERA) GTD as industrial member of Aldebaran project, has recently made a demo on Power bus concept, applied to small launchers. Aldebaran is a system demonstrator that will combine: - a new launch concept - new technologies - new techniques to build an operational system: a launch service offer aimed at small-satellite operators. This offer shall outperform the competition in terms of cost, mass, orbit, availability, responsiveness and reliability. Aldebaran must innovate in: - reliability, safety, availability, - operational flexibility (mission, operations, responsiveness), - operating cost - flight environment - customer services CNES and CDTI have requested GTD and NAJERA AEROSPACE (a GTD subsidiary specialized in on board electronics) to take the responsibility on the studies concerning Aldebaran avionics. The Key drivers are - Size - Minimum weight - Minimum volume - Responsiveness - Global mission coverage - Fast mission adaptation - Fast checkout - Scope width - Commonality between concepts under analysis - Future reuse in current / next generation vehicles - Modularity - Cost - Design, development, test and evaluation - Cost per flight The Critical issues are: - Safety - Aircraft involved - Responsive analysis - Autonomy - Guidance - Before release: launch acceptability - After release: first flight phases - Telemetry - Global coverage - Responsive analysis - Flexibility - Weight - Staging and equivalent payload mass essential - Power systems The Innovation areas are: - Computing architectures - ‘New’ buses and processors - Integrated GNC/Telemetry systems - Flight safety - Autonomous flight safety - On-board launch acceptability (status, area) check - On-board instantaneous impact point/area calculation - GPS metric tracking - Hybrid navigation - Flexible / modular telemetry links - Wireless sensors / sensor networks - Distributed power storage system - Development methods, techniques and tools - Model-driven development - System and software models
