GTD is proud to contribute to Lunar Gateway, the international space station that will orbit the Moon and serve as a cornerstone for future human exploration. Under a contract awarded by Thales Alenia Space, GTD is developing the Application Software for the i-HAB (International Habitat) module—Europe’s critical contribution to the Gateway.
This onboard software plays a vital role in managing i-HAB’s core subsystems, including life support, energy storage and distribution, and thermal control. It also ensures seamless communication between i-HAB, the rest of the station, and the astronauts. Due to its safety-critical nature—supporting the survival of the crew in space—it is classified as Class A software, the highest level of criticality in space systems.
In June 2025, GTD successfully completed Checkpoint 3 at its headquarters in Barcelona. During this milestone, both Thales Alenia Space Italia and the European Space Agency (ESA) validated the architecture and specifications of Version 3, marking a key step toward the final delivery.
GTD’s work on i-HAB underscores our deep expertise in embedded software for space missions and highlights our role in enabling the next generation of sustainable human presence beyond Earth.
