Thales has presented at Le Bourget “Avionics 2020”, the new generation of cabin’s cockpits introducing man-machine interfaces designed to facilitate the pilot the use of the latest technologies. This concept is the result of more than 4 years of an R&D initiative under the European ‘Cleansky’ framework program. GTD, has key member of the project team, has been in charge of developing software concepts concerning the “Weather Awareness” and the “Flight Efficiency” The concept Avionics Cabin 2020 includes a large viewing area safe and easy to use reconfigurable, incorporating multiple touch screens that make viewing more intuitive interaction with all aircraft systems and functions that will be required in commercial aircraft over the next 20 years. On the other hand, the man-machine interface Avionics 2020 enables integration with features and technology provided by third parties and complete customization client may have greater autonomy to develop and manage change. This R&D project has been possible also thanks to the cooperation of scientific institutions, researchers and world-class experts in the field of human-machine interface and apply this knowledge to enable pilots to take out out of your work strengths and weaknesses. This effort has culminated in a task-oriented cockpit that the pilot must perform. The combination of data from different systems and their direct and transparent information to the pilot allows decisions to be made instinctively and less dependent on cognitive analysis, especially in stress conditions. The most remarkable and innovative is that this cabin anticipates the challenges that the airline industry will face in the future in a continuing effort to maintain upward trends in air traffic, while reducing carbon emissions, pollution acoustic and airspace congestion without compromising security. This guarantee of future integration is achieved with SESAR and NextGen benefits, already incorporated in the cockpit so that the pilot can easily and effectively use the full range of new features that require these programs.
