GTD GTD has been awarded a new contract by the French Space Agency (CNES). GTD has set up a consortium in cooperation with the company Capgemini (Austria and France) as subcontractors. The consortium will be in charge of the design, development, delivery and commissioning of the new SLT (Localization and Trajectography System) responsible for the pursuit of the Ariane 5, Vega and Soyuz launchers during the first phase of the mission. The new system, to be installed in the Europe Space Port (French Guyana), is one of the most critical systems as it provides the control and supervision of the flight safety real-time information all along the mission to decide a potential destruction of the launcher. In this context no faults are acceptable since consequences may seriously compromise life, environment or goods. GTD performs all the material and software modifications of the old system since the year 1999. The new system will not only solve the obsolescence problems but it will be also designed to include Vega and Soyuz launchers. CNES has trusted GTD once more as the most appropriate partner to lead this complex project. The solution proposed by GTD’s consortium was the most technically competent as it provided: Maximum risk reduction in an operational highly critical system A technical solution focused on the customer needs (long-time duration, standard and Open Source-based) An innovative solution based on our unique understanding of the system which also guarantees the validation and maintenance of the system The contract volume is near 5.5 MEuros and its duration scheduled is about 2 years.
