On 25 October, The Port Authority of Castellón (APC) convened its port community to introduce Portel’s new verified gross mass request and communication service, which responds to the compliance of the IMO SOLAS convention regulations, incorporating this service in the seaport’s Port Community System platform. For several years, Portel has been APC’s technological collaborator and provider of, among other things, the port’s local window services, which, through this new feature, enables the possibility of managing electronic interchange of information regarding verified gross mass between shippers, weighing centres, consignees and terminals. With this system, the port optimises its services, providing more agility and effectiveness to the day-to-day port activity, allowing to manage the operations that include weighing, the request of said weighing until its communication. As an added value, this new feature will communicate with the export Paperless Clearance service that is already implemented in the APC, directly updating the Verified Gross Mass of the freight lists. This way, the users of the companies that interact with the port, will be able to increase the efficiency of their operations, one of the main objectives that Portel has been pursuing for more than 20 years, equipping their clients with the most innovative technologies and services.
