We can now announce that gtd has arrived in Bilbao. We won the competition from the "Bilbao-Bizkaia Water Consortium" for the "Installation of a data capture system for primary water supply network meters." We're talking about drinking water in Greater Bilbao, and this is the first national project of this magnitude that aims to measure the consumption of this important and sometimes underappreciated resource: WATER. This is the first phase, with meter readings at 300 points, of an initiative by this entity aimed at understanding the proper functioning of its network and managing it with maximum efficiency. We won this project over leading companies in this sector such as ADASA (Agbar) and SINDOSA, a leader in the water sector in the Basque Country. This is a project framed within the M2M concept. Besides the word, it is a new "technological discipline" that seeks to connect machines with machines. In this case, high-flow water meters deliver a pulse signal that is accumulated in a datalogger that, once a day, uploads its measurements and hourly records to the central SCADA. The key is that they use mobile operator networks to transmit this information. The system architecture can be seen in more detail in the following figure. Water, like energy, is a strategic and long-term sector, as it is essential in our daily lives. It is both a challenge and a source of great excitement to be able to provide solutions and services to these clients. The result is that we participate in the improvement and sustainability of our way of life and that of those who will come after us. Many of us already have children, and that really counts. Sustainability is not just a modern curse word; it is something that must penetrate our consciences. With this project, GTD has already laid a brick in that wall of our consciences and is participating in this much-desired sustainable development. I trust that we can continue to contribute new bricks to this immense and weakened wall. Alfredo Juaristi
