The Council of Mayors of the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA), meeting on 20 April 2018 at Les Mureaux (France), invites European states to reinforce their support for the family of European launchers in order to maintain autonomous access to space and deploy applications for the benefit of all Europe’s citizens. In a global context of growing competition drawing on state funding, and while underlining the space industry’s key role in their countries’ economies across Europe, the CVA Members call for: • reinforced political and budgetary commitments for the space sector in general and European launchers in particular, specifically the programmes for items developed and produced on their territory, • application of the principle of European preference for launchers. The Members of the Community of Ariane Cities noted the rapid progress made on the future Ariane 6 launcher during a guided tour of the ArianeGroup site at Les Mureaux, notably at the construction site of the future integration building for the launcher’s main stage.
