From the year 2006 GTD has been actively engaged in offering to the market technologies to develop a "Unmanned Ground Vehicle" (UGV). This effort has been finally awarded with a contract with the Spanish company ITURRI. This contract concerns the development of the control software for the UGV vehicle "Bobcat 4x4 IntelliTrak".With GTD's software, the vehicle will be powered in "Remote Control" mode. This mode enables a distant operator to "drive" the vehicle on a secure and effective way, and giving the real sensations when operator control and vehicle reaction must be very well synchronized in order to give the best response and the smoothest driving. The main functionality of the Remote Control software is, in one side to receive and present to the operator the "immersive" and "contextual" information in order to let him command precisely the vehicle. In the other side, this software must send to the vehicle the driving orders for control of speed, Steering wheel, breaks, lighting, etc....All the manoeuvres must not compromise the safety of the vehicle regarding such aspects as stability (angles of inclination), limits of traction, gearbox control, ... taking into account also the engine performances and nominal parameters. The second main functionality of the Remote Control software is the navigation system. The system must track the absolute positioning (heading and speed) and compare it in real time with the nominal one. At the same time, the sensorial subsystems inform the operator about environmental circumstances, so the telecontrol loop must avoid obstacles during the programmed path. Finally, GTD delivers also the energy management system of the vehicle.
