GTD has won the competition to design the new mission control center ‘Jupiter 2’ of European Space Port in French Guyana. The actual Control Center Jupiter 2 was built 15 years ago by GTD. Now, this new contract has been established for the complete modernization of the hardware and the software of this unique and complex control center. Jupiter 2 is the mission control for all European launchers operations and campaigns (AR5 GS, AR5 ECA, VEGA and SOYUZ). This control center will be in charge, as well, of the operations of the recent approved new launchers vehicles ARIANE 6.2 and ARIANE 6.4.The CDC is the system to which converges, at the time of an ARIANE-5, SOYUZ or VEGA launching chronology, all the information from the sites, the state of the launcher, of its payload and of all the means responsible for the flight pursuit. It co-ordinates the launching campaign and the different launcher’s flight phases until the orbit insertion of the satellites. The principal decisions concerning the launch are taken in the control centre. On D-Day, details about the state of the launch pad, the launch vehicle and the satellite are all centralized in this room, to enable operators to decide whether to go ahead with the launch. Finally, it is also responsible for the chronological handling of the whole information (localization, telemetry, flight safety information, satellites, scheduling…).The various launch campaign managers meet there to coordinate the final launch arrangements. The big challenge for GTD will be to install and commission the new center without disturbing the very tough launching calendar for the next years.
