· The non-compulsory measure will enter into force on 1 January 2019. · PORTEL to provide ‘Air Freight Solution’ in major Spanish cargo terminals IATA, the International Air Transport Association, is determined to give the definitive backing for the implementation of the electronic air waybill (e-AWB) in Spanish airports. With this will, the association announced yesterday in Barcelona that, from 1 January 2019, the e-AWB will be the preferred means to send cargo from El Prat Airport. To explain this transit to the electronic e-AWB and the advantages that this means, the Association Barcelona and Catalonia Logistics Center (BCL) organized, through the group Barcelona Air Freight Community' a conference on the initiative eAWB-360. El Prat, in the top 45 El Prat Airport is one of the 45 world airports that are already part of the LATA e-AWB 360 initiative. To date Barcelona-El Prat has eleven airlines that have already joined the project with more than satisfactory results. GTD-PORTEL supplier of the 'Air Freight Solution' platform The experience of the Cargo Community System (CCS) implemented at El Prat Airport played a leading role thanks to the technological solutions provided by the PORTEL and GPA platform, known as the 'Air Freight Solution', which has been in operation for more than 18 months, ensuring electronic exchange between all stakeholders at the El Prat air cargo terminal. This solution will soon also be deployed in Madrid-Barajas.
