We are pleased to report that the first photos taken by the METEOSAT Third Generation - Imager 1 (MTG-I1) Flexible Combined Imager, have been made available. Those on the GTD team responsible for data and picture processing have worked very hard to get us to this point in the program. For over a decade, GTD has also been the primary developer of the on-board software and operational simulators. We have this wonderful news to share due of the hard work of our entire team. The FCI's capabilities are incredible, and the image from the satellite's imager is much more striking than anyone had hoped for. The MTG-I1 image shows more nuanced cloud patterns at high latitudes, allowing meteorologists to better track the development of severe storms in that area.
