Airport logistics is currently experiencing a moment of development and visibility that comes hand in hand with Logistics 4.0. We are experiencing the trend of the digital revolution, which gives way to the automation of production and the use of electronics, encompassing modern information and communication technology. As a result of this digitization process, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has begun to recommend to all air transport operators to convert the electronic Air Waybill (e-AWB) into the default transport contract for all air freight shipments on enabled trade routes. From what we've been through, we can say that 2019 is a year of transitions for the airline industry. Since the beginning of 2018, Portel Logistic Technologies, the leading company in technology solutions, has launched the Air Freight Solution (AFS) platform for sending the electronic air waybill (e-AWB), the FHL and the transport order. It should be remembered that the main objective of the AFS solution is to implement a Cargo Community System (CCS) at the main airports, always following the flow of air transport digitization. Moving to the maritime-port community, historically speaking, PORTEL has managed to dematerialise the maritime-port sector in Spain, implementing from the Maritime Single Window systems in its beginnings, to more recently its Port Community System (PCS) solution. This is the path that PORTEL wants to follow, moving it to the air cargo terrain. During the last academic year, after the definitive implementation of the AFS solution, PORTEL has been very well received by the freight forwarders in the air transport sector. It should be noted that PORTEL already has large customers representing the sector, where more and more, forwarders are making the leap to the digitalization of their logistics processes, opting for the Air Freight Solution. The results of AFS are quite remarkable since they bring numerous benefits to the actors of the air sector, such as, for example: Simplification of administrative processes. The limitation of travel for the collection and delivery of documentation. Management times, exhaustive tracking of your goods until they reach their destination. It is important to point out that, unlike Spanish airports, several international airports have a Cargo Community System (CCS) such as London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfürt, etc. Thanks to the digitalisation of air cargo processes, the airports mentioned above are managing to optimise air cargo processes and make these shipments safer, cheaper, faster and more efficient.
