In their desire to contribute to the development and innovation of the information systems used in the maritime-port sector, Portel has implemented an INFOPAX Passenger Information System at the Port Authority of Ceuta, a Port Authority with a permanent commitment to innovation and technology.This system has contributed to the fact that the Operation Crossing the Strait 2016 (OPE 2016), conducted during the summer months, has been successful in organizing a large number of vehicles and passengers between the ports of Algeciras and Ceuta, substantially improving the information given to the users in transit.Thanks to the INFOPAX system, during the OPE 2016, the passengers have been able to view real-time information regarding the routes carried out by the shipping companies Baleària, FRS and Transmediterranea between the Autonomous City and Algeciras on various screens located in the Maritime Station of the Port of Ceuta.It’s also possible to access the schedule information of the ships on the Port Authority’s website. Furthermore, the system shows up-do-date information about the ship’s position during its trajectory, as well as other interesting data regarding the Strait’s weather situation (temperature, wind strength, waves). All these things have contributed to the improvement of the services provided by the Port Authority, making it clearer, easier and more comfortable for the users of the maritime route between Ceuta and the Iberian Peninsula.Traditionally, Portel has focused its specialized software on developing the activity and business of companies and entities within the maritime-port sector.
