Kourou Dec 14 -- A contract team that includes gtd has been selected to consolidate Ariane 5 operations at CSG (Centre Spatial Guyanais). The Industrial Space Operations Contract (CPI) is valued at €80 Million over 5 years (2007-2011) and it constitutes the renewal of this activity witch started in 1992. gtd estimates its share of revenues at €22 million over the 5-year period of performance. The CPI team, led by Telespazio (Toulouse, France), includes gtd (Barcelona, Spain) and Vitrociset (Roma, Italy) , as primary partners. The CPI effort is an agencywide, performance-based contract designed to realize significant cost reductions while ensuring high-quality space operations services. By this contract, gtd is responsible for all the computer related activities in the Space Centre, including the main control centre, the flight safety, radars and telemetry systems, the mission planning, as well as the IT facilities management for all the Space Centre’s staff. gtd delivers also systems engineering and support for the new incoming systems and evolution of the existing ones. In the next years, it is foreseen that the operations for new space vehicles as VEGA and Soyuz will be carried out thought an extension of today’s contract. "The CPI contracts is all about the future, and it demonstrates that the European Space Agency ESA, the CNES and Arianespace are very satisfied about the quality delivered by gtd during the last 15 years," said Angel Ramirez, president of gtd. "gtd is eager to support CNES and Arianespace with our unmatched combination of history and experience to ensure that ARIANE 5 remains the world leader in Space Transportation Market. Contract work will be performed by engineers assigned to gtd's Space Division managed by Marta Escudero and geographically located in two sites, one in Barcelona’s headquarter (back office) and the other in Kourou (French Guyana).
