The last Council of Ministers of the Spanish Government before the general elections of 28 April 2019 has approved an increase in the ceiling for Spanish participation in the European Space Agency's space programmes in the period 2020-2026. Thus, out of an initial maximum investment of 956.3 million euros in that period, Spain will now contribute 701.7 million euros more, for a total of 1,658 million euros. This is an increase of no less than 73% in the forecast figure. This will raise Spain's share of ESA programmes from 5% to 7.12%. The annual budget will be fixed to 240 M€/year, the rise in the space budget is historic !!. Spain is already the fifth largest contributor to the ESA budget after France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, but this increase in investment will help to strengthen its position. This is undoubtedly excellent news for GTD as well as for the entire Spanish industrial sector dedicated to technologies and services in the space field.
