GTD has been entrusted with the prestigious contract for the Full Automated Monitor and Control System of the 3.6m Coating Plant at La Silla Observatory by the European Organization for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO).

This achievement underscores GTD's expertise in the realm of automation and control systems within the astronomical research sector. Project Overview The project entails the development of a fully automated control system for the 3.6m Coating Plant at ESO's La Silla Observatory.

This innovative system is designed to upgrade the observatory's coating technology, ensuring the main optics of the telescopes maintain high performance through regular re-coating of large mirrors.

The project highlights include:  

  • State-of-the-Art Control System: incorporating advanced PLC and touch screen technology to modernize the Coating Plant with the latest generation monitoring and control equipment.
  • Enhanced Process Efficiency: the system aims to automate the coating process, facilitating a series of operational modes such as Self-Diagnostic, Semi-Automatic, Full-Automatic, and more, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
