The International Defence Exhibition and Conference for land, sea and air took place last week. GTD and NAVANTIA were present and, like in other occasions, they showed their joint capacities in Advanced Observation Combat Vehicles. This year, they presented VERT, the new vehicle for Ground Forces, fully equipped when it comes to sensors and, as a novelty, integrating a ground radar which will enable the early detection of possible threats. These systems generated great interest among the delegations due to their innovative nature. IDEX is the only international defence exhibition and conference in the MENA region demonstrating the latest technology across the land sea and air sectors of defence. It is a unique platform to establish and strengthen relationships with government departments, businesses and armed forces throughout the region. IDEX is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; and is organised by the IDEX LLC in association and with the full support of the UAE Armed Forces. IDEX takes place biennially at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), which is centrally located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The IDEX exhibition takes over 100% of the state-of-the-art exhibition centre utilising 133,000sqm of event space. Year after year, IDEX continues to attract a growing wealth of international decision-makers from within the defence industry, alongside key representatives from governments, armed forces, and key military personnel. Strong representation from GCC and MENA countries make IDEX the prime platform to reach such an important audience. IDEX attracted 1.235 exhibitors, of which about fifteen were Spanish. 57 countries participated and there were about 10.000 visitors from 175 official delegations, according to the information provided by the organisers.
