Apollo TDS is the new Target Designation System developed by GTD Defense & Security Solutions to support naval gun operations when primary combat systems are unavailable. The system ensures continued mission capability through accurate manual targeting and has already been deployed internationally.
This system is a next-generation manual backup solution for naval gun platforms, designed to maintain targeting capability when automated systems are impaired due to radio silence, electronic warfare, or technical failure. It allows operators to manually compute and transmit firing data to the weapon system in real time, ensuring continued control of mission-critical functions.
The system is built around three core principles: high integration, precision, and reliability. Its modular architecture ensures seamless compatibility with a wide range of modern naval platforms and combat systems.
The Target Designation System also incorporates infrared and visible-spectrum vision systems, enhancing target detection and recognition capabilities in complex operational environments.
“When the main combat system is down, the TDS allows you to aim and fire the gun with precision,” explains Francisco Mier, Apollo TDS Project Manager at GTD.
As part of its international rollout, GTD has successfully completed the delivery of four Apollo TDS units to Indonesia and two units to Morocco, achieving a key milestone in the program’s deployment phase.
