GTD has sponsored the Hypatia II mission, an analog Mars mission conducted in February 2025 at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in Utah, USA.
Through this collaboration, GTD supported a diverse crew of scientists and engineers as they carried out multidisciplinary experiments in a simulated Martian habitat.
Led by the Hypatia Mars Association, the mission not only advanced research in space exploration but also promoted STEAM careers—especially among young women—fostering the next generation of space professionals.
Why GTD Supports Hypatia II As a company deeply involved in aerospace engineering, GTD recognizes the strategic importance of research conducted in analog environments. Supporting initiatives like Hypatia II aligns with our vision in several ways:
How GTD’s Work Connects to Missions Like Hypatia II At GTD, we are constantly developing cutting-edge software solutions for space missions. One example is our i-HAB Application Software for the Gateway Space Station, which will support astronaut operations and mission control on the Lunar Gateway.
While Hypatia II operated in a simulated Martian environment, the software and automation challenges it faced are similar to those encountered in real space missions. By supporting initiatives like Hypatia II, we stay connected to the latest challenges in human spaceflight, autonomous operations, and remote mission support.
