To equip the field that Dogger Bank Wind Farms plans to set up in the North Sea, more than 130 km off the coast of Yorkshire (United Kingdom), it will require no less than three hundred giant Haliade-X wind turbines. Three sites are planned, with a total capacity of 3.6 GW. Haliade-X is the name of the wind turbine that was chosen to be installed on the world's largest offshore wind farm. Each gigantic wind turbine has a 700-ton rotor, a 150-metre mast, 107-metre blades and 12 MW of power. A real monster designed by General Electric Renewable Energy, partially manufactured in France and with a control system developed by GTD in Barcelona. The first phase of the giant park should be operational by 2023 and the project as a whole by 2025. It is expected to supply 4.5 million households each year. This is equivalent to 5% of the United Kingdom's electricity production.
