The development of the European NGV market is currently the focus of the European Authorities, supported with the launch of initiatives like DAFI (Directive on Alternative Fuel Infrastructure). The BESTWay project is an important infrastructure initiative between Spain and France that focuses on Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) for stations, which should be considered as the way forward to continue guaranteeing the appropriate and homogeneous development of LNG. Gas Natural Fenosa doesn’t only offer LNG as an excellent alternative, but also Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) with the collaboration of Gas Natural Europe and GTD System & Software Engineering. The beneficial aspects of using Natural Gas (NG), in its different forms and applications, are widely well-known, even being the primary choice for freight transport by ship and for urban passenger transport. However, there are still certain issues concerning Liquefied Natural Gas that aren’t sufficiently clear and that need further analysis. The offered solutions aim at addressing current issues of market and technical regulations in terms of security, standardization, logistics, public access and interoperability. The action will develop 9 LNG refuelling stations along the Corridor (from Algeciras to Paris), implementing cost-effective standard and new modular designs. The stations will incorporate advanced solutions for management and remote operations. Furthermore, the action will develop an ICT infrastructure to deliver services and applications to improve interoperability and while ensuring public access to the station. The services will enclose compatibility with payment system, training and accreditation. All this will contribute to a large-scale deployment of natural gas as an alternative fuel for road transport, combined with the project’s funding, which is approved through the present grant offered by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) of up to 50% of the project value (3,8 million euros). Its implementation will be fully developed by July 2018. For further information
