Last week, our eWAS team was proud to host the very first eWAS User Forum at GTD's headquarters in Barcelona. We welcomed a case study from Air France, who are already using the application, presentations from pilots, and information about how eWAS's technological advancements make it highly reliable and accurate. There were attendees from Aer Lingus, Air France, Dassault Aviation, GTD, INEAR, Météo France, Transavia, ENAIRE, Royal Air Maroc, SITAONAIR, and Vueling. As the topics discussed over the two-day event emphasized airlines' real need for an operational solution for providing pilots with weather information, and how eWAS meets this need. In the case study, representatives talked about the need for a new way to receive flight weather information, as the paper model for flight planning is obsolete. They chose to work with eWAS because of our human factors approach and our multi-weather model which enables highly accurate information. eWAS was also selected as it works for both iOS and Windows devices, and is visually appealing and easy to understand and use in both formats. Two of our test pilots shared their experiences with using eWAS as a complimentary tool to their flight dispatch procedures. They emphasized how useful the application is, as well as how easy it is to use to get real time flight information that traditional flight plans do not use. It can help them both avoid weather conditions during flight and let them see how conditions evolve in the hours leading up to a scheduled flight to get a better idea of what the real weather conditions are. Météo France presented their advanced tools they use to provide a constantly improving model for weather forecasting, as well as the new thunderstorm nowcast technology. Their data are part of the reason that eWAS can provide pilots with highly accurate information about weather conditions for flight. SITAONAIR detailed the thorough systems they have in place to ensure that the applications they support for weather solutions such as eWAS are supported 24/7 both from the ground and onboard. This guarantees that the app is connected and that pilots always receive the same high-quality service. Our director, Florent Birling, also announced the release of version 2.2 of eWAS, which will be coming very shortly. We would like to sincerely thank Air France, SITAONAIR, Météo France, our pilots, and all the attendees who came to our user forum. We would also like to extend a special thanks to Wim Huson for being on board with eWAS from the very beginning. eWAS is currently available for download for both iOS and Windows devices. Follow this link to get the application, which will be free of charge for a limited time only.
